The Power of Weight Loss Motivation

There is nothing more powerful than well-applied motivation.

In all the trials of life, motivation has a predominant role; without this motivation, you will never achieve your goals.

In the worst moments, you must cling to this motivation to be able to continue your efforts.

The Purpose and Vision of Motivation

From the beginning of your diet, understand and crystallize your expectations while determining your goals.

  • To restore your health.

  • To be comfortable within your body.

  • To regain self-confidence.

  • To feel strong and capable during any exercise.

  • To be happy.

Enlarge your list and post it in a place where you can read it every day to keep building your motivation!

Maintain Your Motivation

Motivation is like love; you must maintain it constantly.
If the flame of your motivation starts to go out, go back to your original goal and get off back again to a good start.
If your health and well-being are no longer able to motivate you in your weight loss, think and look for additional inspirations that will allow you to strengthen your motivation:

  • Think of all of the clothes you’ll be able to wear in your new size.

  • Remember how breathless you were when you went up the stairs before your diet.

  • Feel the benefits of your weight loss so far.

Assume Your Motivation

Once your goals are set, you must assume your desire to lose weight.
Assertiveness is essential to maintaining your motivation.
You must convince yourself that you are the only important person in this world. Above all, you have the right to lose weight to feel better!
Here are three exercises of assertiveness. These are examples that can be modified according to your needs and your pace of life. You must read them every day. Just like your physical activity, this exercise in spiritual gymnastics is very important!

  • I have the right to be thin: « I’m free of my choices and free to lose weight. Nobody has the right to take it away from me, and I don’t have to justify myself! Before today, every sensation was connected to food. If I was sad, I ate; if I was stressed, I ate; if I was happy, I ate. Today, I decided to stop throwing myself at food (sweets, chips, cookies, beers, soft drinks, etc.). I have my whole life in front of me, and neither food nor anyone or anything else should live it in my place!  »

  • I want to be thin: « It’s been too long since I thought about it. This time, it’s decided, I want to lose weight to get healthy! I know that becoming thin will make me happy and that I will feel better about myself. From today on, I think of myself and my happiness! »

  • I will be thin: « I want to be thin, so I’ll be thin because that’s important to me! It’s a big challenge that can be scary, but it’s not too hard for me. I know that I’m capable of it, and I trust myself! Changing my eating habits no longer scares me now that I’m firmly determined; we have nothing without nothing. The efforts are difficult but, by no means, impossible because I want to be thin, and I will be! »

Tools for Losing Weight

Your motivation must be solid as a rock to succeed in such an adventure.

Well-framed motivation is a strong motivation that will not give in to the slightest temptation. You must surround yourself with people who will accompany you on the road to success!

Here are some tips that will help you in this period of your diet:

Will: Who told you that you needed it? Your will has certainly helped you make big decisions in your life, sometimes vital ones. Strong motivation built from scratch by yourself is your best ally!

Failure: The most important thing is not either having or not having a will; the most important thing is what you decide to do and what will be done! If you reflect as a defeatist, you’ll never get there. It is not because you have had several failures in your life that losing weight is an impossible mission. It is through our failures that we learn and move forward in life. This allows us to learn more about ourselves, and to be introspective when facing the same challenges. We improve from them, and that allows us to succeed! Failures are, therefore, essential to motivation. Your success depends on you and your motivation to reach your goals!

Entourage: The people around you influence you either positively or negatively. So, you need to surround yourself with good friends or family members to encourage you in the process of weight loss. However, beware of those around you; people who see you losing weight can sometimes have excessive reactions, often due to jealousy. These jealous people who also need to lose weight, but do not have your motivation, may make many remarks, like this:

o « Are you still on a diet?! »
o « Let’s go to the restaurant! My treat! It will not hurt your diet! »
o « You look very pale! This diet will make you sick! »
o « Do not lose too much weight! Let me remind that you’ll get it back anyway!  »

It is for this reason that we advise you to inform only your close entourage of your decision to lose weight. It will help you avoid bad reactions and additional stress. Desire is the only thing that can explain the jealousy of these people. Do not be influenced by them. The best answer will be the joy you build in your life and your happiness at reaching your goal!

Guilt: Do you feel guilty every time you cheat on your plan? Is every gap, for you, a crime?
You do not have time to feel guilty; life is far too short! It is normal not to follow any diet to the letter. Do not blame yourself for this. The most important thing is that you stay positive and emphasize your objective!

Results: Take small steps at the end of each week, such as making marks on the clothes you were wearing before starting the plan. This will allow you to appreciate the progress you’re making toward your new body. It’s the best way to fuel your motivation!

Emotions: Your main excuse for dieting might be, « I get fat because I eat my emotions. » As you know, emotions are not edible. Each person has their own emotions and reacts differently to them, but eating them is, by no means, a good reaction! You often compensate for displeasure with pleasure, and the easiest pleasure you have at hand is often what is in your fridge. So, you must relax because a negative emotion sends a message of stress to the brain. Instead of eating in this case, isolate yourself in a quiet place, close your eyes and think of something that relaxes you. Otherwise, you can:

o Call a loved one to share your feelings
o Write down your emotions
o Read
o Play a game
o Walk or ride a bicycle

Relief: Relief may be that, for a variety of reasons, your motivation fades away, and you decide to give up everything. In that case, call a member of your medical team, and we will be happy to take the time to listen to you and adjust your plan. Also, in these tough times, a loved one can be of significant help in giving you advice or solutions to help you stay on track. These spare wheels are often used to bring back confidence, motivation, and self-esteem while supporting you to continue the diet in the best conditions and achieve your goal!
